A few months ago we introduced you to Colin Rampling, who was determined to revive cricket in the Bay of Plenty region, with the main focus being low-decile youth cricket. QSCC pledged $9,100 to help repair four existing local nets, and purchase gear and equipment so Colin could hold after school programmes. 🏏 We've recently had word that Bay of Plenty Cricket has 70 junior registrations, and now both the high school in Whakatane have first XI teams playing in competitions due to Colin and the team driving cricket in a fun safe environment. Numbers playing cricket are up, their Twilight cricket has increased 10 to 13, and adults are now club members. Their membership has doubled!
"Thank you for all your support. Our club's President's and I have arranged T20 matches against Whakatane Police and BOP Regional Council, so we are getting the world out. We are very pleased to be supported by QSCC!" says Colin. Check out these recent photos of hundreds of young cricketers from yesterday's Bay of Plenty cricket day! Comments are closed.
