Having moved to Whakatane, Colin Rampling found there was no cricket being played in the Eastern Bay of Plenty, despite there being four clubs at one point. Colin and some others have incorporated the Eastern Bay of Plenty Cricket Club with an initial focus on low-decile youth cricket (what a great concept!). Before lockdown, they were holding after school programmes and had 85 kids registered. Starting from scratch is challenging and expensive, so we recently donated a full gear bag and have pledged $9,100 to repair four existing local nets, and purchase further gear and equipment.
"Thank you so much for the equipment, I know this will be well used. My son Harry and daughter Lucy were just as excited as me to get a package of cricket gear! I am along with our members truly grateful for the support of QSCC," says Colin. This is exactly the sort of initiative we are proud to support. Comments are closed.
