THE CRICKETERS' CHARITY

The Queen Street Cricket Club is a charitable organisation assisting disadvantaged children in New Zealand.

It encourages school children in NZ to play cricket, to develop the attributes of sportsmanship and fair play, through providing facilities, equipment, tuition and coaching.

The QSCC, established in 1989, is based on similar organisations in Australia and the United Kingdom. It is recognised as the "Cricketers' Charity" - the only organisation in New Zealand that focusses entirely on cricket to raise funds.

The main source of funding is derived from the performance of the New Zealand Cricket team ("The Black Caps") in Test matches .

Whenever a New Zealand Test Player records a "Duck" in a Test Match QSCC members are fined the princely sum of Five Tax Deductable Dollars.

D.K. Morrison, seen here in happier times, recorded 33 Ducks for New Zealand and provided a constant cashflow of funds for the organisation.

THE ACTIVITIES

The Q.S.C.C. has a substantial financial base and is also in involved in providing annual cricket scholarships to lower decile schools, and assistance to organisations that provide cricket facilities to school children.

In previous years the Q.S.C.C. has made a number of donations annually to various organisations.

Members of the New Zealand team, on behalf of the Q.S.C.C. preesent a cheque for $20,000 to the heart Children of New Zealand in 1988.

However, following a strategic review conducted in the latter part of 2006 has decided to focus on providing ongoing funding for one specific charity.

The QSCC is delighted to announce that it has selected Kidney Kids of New Zealand as the children's charity to support for five years from 2007.

Where appropriate, the QSCC may still make additional donations to other organisations.
